The year was 1783. England had just returned from Paris, tired and heartbroken. He had just signed a treaty saying that he recognized America as an independent nation. He had raised America like a son for years, but now, America wanted to be apart from him. He knew something was like this was coming, but he never expected it to happen so soon. It would've helped if America was cordial about the independence, but alas, he broke the poor country's heart to get his freedom.
England entered his home, numb and silent. He sat down in a nearby chair and just stared off into space. His maid came to him, asking if he needed anything, but he just weakly waved his hand to dismiss her. Then, he heard the pitter-patter of tiny feet, gradually increasing in sound and frequency as it came closer to him. A little girl, no older than the age of 6, came running to him. "Big brother!" she squealed, as her (h/c) locks bounced behind her. She pounced on England, and he caught her in his arms, but he was still staring off into space. "Big brother?" the little girl asked, with worry slightly swirled in her sweet and childish voice.
England blinked a few times and then looked at the small girl. He smiled weakly and she returned it with a bright one. "Yay, you're home! How was frog face's capital?" she inquired while giving him a hug. He smiled again, this one a bit stronger than the previous one. "It was
fine, love," he whispered hoarsely to her. Her bright smile dimmed a bit, and she asked, "What's wrong big brother? I thought you were going to visit big brother America." At the mention of the former British colony's name, England burst out into tears. He didn't care that he looked bad in front of his little sister, he just needed to release his bottled up emotions. Of course, she freaked out and pleaded for him to stop crying but, alas, he wouldn't. After a few minutes, his sobs died down to sniffles. He looked at his little sister, his eyes red and brimmed with tears. "Promise me
promise me that you'll never leave me," he begged the little girl. She smiled and said, "I promise," and kissed her older brother's forehead.
"Oi, (Name)! Where are you?! It's time for tea!" yelled England. "Coming!" the younger sibling yelled back. She raced down the stairs and tackled England in a hug. He returned it and said, "Come on." Over the years, (Name) had grown into a beautiful country. Now, her human age, is 18. While England's other colonies left him, she stayed at his side, never forgetting her promise to him. She was there through all of his ups and downs and vice versa. The two were as thick as thieves, but lately, England had been stricter with his younger sister. As they sat at the table, drinking their tea in a comfortable silence, (Name) decided to break it with a question. "Big brother?" she asked and he replied with a "Hm?" "Can I
can I visit America and France today?" she inquired nervously.
His reaction was instantaneous. "WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO VISIT THAT BURGER GUZZLING IDIOT AND THAT BLOODY FRENCH FROG?!" he screamed at her. She winced, knowing that asking to visit his more-or-less-acquaintances would be a touchy subject for him. "I just
I thought that I was old enough to visit them. I mean, you get to see them, so why not me? I mean, I'm a country too
" she replied meekly. As much as she loved her brother, she did have a somewhat of a rebellious side that she learned from America. "No, you are NOT old enough. I have to see them because of my boss. Do you think I like seeing them? You're not a country, (Name), you're a colony. You're MY colony and you live in MY house so you have to follow MY rules." That did it. (Name) also had the same short temper of her brother, but she was better at controlling it. That last remark from England made her erupt. "You don't own me! I can do whatever I want! I'm just your sister, not your property! Why are you so possessive? I can see why America left you! Maybe I should leave too!" she yelled and stormed out of the room.
England's eyes widened. He tried to breathe, but he couldn't and sunk to his knees. Memories flashed in his eyes. He remembered all of his former colonies like Seychelles, India, New Zealand, and most of all, America. He remembered how happy he was with them and how they broke his heart when they declared their independence. He could feel his heart cracking when he thought about (Name) leaving. She was his savior; she pulled him out of multiple depressions, and now she was leaving too, taking his heart with her. He broke down sobbing. He couldn't afford to lose her. He got up, and sprinted to her bedroom.
He entered, not even bothering to knock. He found (Name) sitting on her bed, looking out the window. England ran up to her and enveloped her in a hug and pleaded, "Please don't leave me," while sobbing into her shoulder. (Name) blinked in surprise and hugged back, not knowing what to say. After a few minutes, he repeated, "Please don't leave me." but in a much softer tone. (Name) smiled a bit, leaving England utterly confused. "I won't leave you. I promised you that when I was young." she said finally. England was speechless. "You
you still remember that?" he said slowly. She nodded and replied, "I'll never forget it. We may argue, but I'll always stick with you. That's what siblings do, big brother." He smiled brightly, which was rare for him and kissed her on the forehead, like she always did. "Thank you" he mumbled and continued embracing her, not wanting to let go of his last sibling.
"(Name)?" England called. "Yes?" she replied. "You can go." He said. "Go where?" she asked, confused. "You can go
visit America and frog face if you want." he said, while looking off to the side. "Oh thank you!" she exclaimed and hugged him. "But I have to come with you," he added on, "I don't want them to do anything to you or brainwash you into hating me." (Name) smiled and said, "Fine, you can come too." "Thank you, love." "Anytime, big brother."
